Room 58’s Community Work Continues

This month The Liverpool Ocular Oncology Centre (LOOC) is celebrating the launch of their new web site, www.eyetumour.com, donated by Room 58 as part of our continuing commitment to the community. The web site was created for Consultant and Director, Bertil Damato, to help LOOC deliver information to potential suffers of ocular cancer and tumours around the country. The eye is one of the least publicised areas for cancer or other tumulus growths and, as such, many sufferers can be unaware of their condition or, when they are aware, feel isolated due to the lack of information on the subject available to them.

This lack of openly available information lies at the heart of the web site’s construction. As such, a blogging tool and patient forum have been included on the site to allow sufferers and experts alike to share their experiences and knowledge on the subject. The site also includes a bulk of information about the various conditions the eye is susceptible to and the types of treatment available for sufferers.

It is our hope at Room 58 that the web site will prove to be a valuable tool both for LOOC and for their patients. The site has been search optimised for ease of location, is W3C compliant and has been designed to be easy to read for individuals with ocular conditions.
